A Successful Summer, with alot of help and support!

Tom and I would like to thank everyone for a awesome opening season. The pool has closed as of 9/13/2009 until May. Our lifegaurds did an outstanding job and we hope to see them next spring when we reopen the pool. We learned, we grew and it pained us at times but there have been many rewards.

Stay in touch!

Up & Running!

Indian Springs is up and running! And we feel great about it. One of the best things has been talking to everyone that has just "stopped by" to visit. People have come in because they learned to swim in the pool thirty years ago, and they wanted to see how much it had changed. Our family has been able to connect with people that new our parents and grandparents, and that makes us extremely happy. Our hope is that the community and patrons are enjoying this as much as we are.
Here are some pictures of the pool- all redone, but very much keeping the traditions alive- (notice the dressing room doors are still there!)

Community Clean Up Day

The town of American Falls organized a community clean-up the first weekend of May. We had so many people show up to help, even though it was raining. It is great to have such wonderful community support.

It rained most of the morning. It didn't matter. People were willing to help outside or inside.

Thank you American Falls!

Remodeling

It has taken months, and a lot of hard work from so many people- but Indian Springs is finally open! Family and friends have put in countless hours, as have many new friends that stopped by. These are some pictures of the "work in progress."

Every weekend, something has been done at the pool. Benches were painted.

On Valentine's Day, a message was written in the bottom of the pool.

The entire pool area had to be refinished. So did the inside, and the grounds.

My Memories of Indian Springs -

Many, many years ago - probably the mid 1960's - our family would sit on our front porch on the 4th of July and watch the fireworks. We had a wonderful view of them - it wasn't until the early 1990's that I actually did fireworks at the Nat.

And then there was the the time in about 1973 that I had gone for a swim after work. Had gotten out of the pool, gotten dressed, did my makeup & hair and was talking to someone in the pool. Someone (I won't mention the name here, at least not yet) walked up behind me, picked me up and dropped me in the pool - leather belt and moccasins - he didn't care. gggrrrhh

Family Works to Restore Indian Springs

Posted: Feb 16, 2009 07:19 PM

After years of disrepair, a local resort is under new ownership. As Bill Kotowski shows us, restoring Indian Springs is a family affair.

Tom Henesh, new owner: "You know it is important. It's important to the family."

Indian Springs has been a big part of Tom Henesh's life. He spent many summers there working alongside his brothers. But as the years went on, disrepair set in.

Although the signs and the building's facade have faded over the years, Henesh says his memories as a young man there never did. That's something he looks forward to sharing with his children.

Tom Henesh: "It's an opportunity for us to give something to the kids, the family, and do it as a project. You know, to build back up and get it to the level where we had it."

Restoring Indian Springs to its former glory hasn't been an easy task. Despite purchasing it less than a month ago, Henesh and his family have already spent countless hours working on the resort. But all their hard work - and, of course, some time for fun - has had a lasting impact on the Henesh family.

Carlton Henesh: "I think it's been really fun. I mean, even though we're always so spread out we don't really interact, this place has just drawn us together."

Henesh kids: "It's fun... dunking people in the water. My favorite part about this place is jumping off the diving board and trying to do flips and stuff."

But it won't be all fun and games... Henesh says he hopes to have the pool area ready for the public by May 15th. He also hopes to have the camping and picnic areas ready soon after. Despite having his work cut out for him, he says he just wants to give back to the area that has given him so much.

Tom Henesh: "To give back to the community and the family and to have a family project... it means a lot. It's worth more than the money in your pocket."

Although the pool at Indian Springs will open on May 15th, Henesh says it will probably take years to finish everything he would like to see done.
